I am truly blessed! The combination of my love of place and passion for exercise have afforded me a lifestyle tailored to fill my days with inspiration and recreation. I am drawn to the spirit of nature and the Methow Valley and surrounding Cascade mountains supply me with endless subject matter, making the landscape my primary focus. I work in dry pastel, enjoying the layering of sketches and strokes that go into a painting with the end result being a technique I call lyrical realism.
Temperate months are spent hiking and biking the local landscape, gathering reference material along the way and then returning to my home studio to try and capture the essence of that experience. More than a record of place, I try to capture the mood of the landscape using light, shadow and color to portray that moment that attracted my soul.
Much of my winter months are spent on snow instructing cross country skiing at Sun Mountain Lodge, alpine touring the North Cascades with my husband Chris, and skiing behind the house with my dog. It’s a rough life of painting all summer and skiing all winter!
My work has been exhibited in several North-Central Washington galleries, and in summer months my work and I can be found most Saturday mornings at the Twisp Farmers’ Market, unless of course you run into me along the trail…
