Creating art has been a part of my life from the day I could hold a pencil. My first “one woman” show was at the tender age of 3 – a singular work titled Orange Crayon on White Wall. Doesn’t every budding artist start here?
Reviews of that work were less than hoped for and it quickly became my responsibility to dismantle the show with sponge and cleaner. My spirit, only encouraged by that first opportunity, keeps looking to improve the offerings, entertain and engage the viewer.
It has been my good fortune to have been raised and live in small, rural niches of the Pacific Northwest. Where I have lived has had a great influence on my art – northern California, and Eastern Washington. Summers during my college years were spent as a Forest Service fire lookout perched on rugged mountains in the Cascades. The changes in light, weather and shadows helped fuel the desire to translate those amazing landscapes into paintings. Inspiration continues to be just outside my front door here in the Methow, or along other paths across the world.
Let the art you select be like a good friend by bringing a smile to your face whenever you see it.
