Lightning, wearing a bowtie, strikes at 11
Mantle clock made from a highly figured piece of mulberry. The wood slab includes an inlaid bowtie (also known as a Dutchman or pewa), stabilizing a natural crack in the wood. The clock stands on two turned walnut feet.
The clock face is made from reclaimed copper. A patina has been applied to the copper, incorporating fern fronds collected in the Methow Valley. The clock hands have also been patinated.
The clock includes a battery powered (AA) mechanism accurate to +/- 2 minutes/year. The clock mechanism provider recommends Energizer or Duracell brand batteries only.
Entire piece is about 14" tall x 12" wide.
