Michael Caldwell

     I paint because I love the physical act of painting and dealing with the multiple interrelated aspects of making a painting. I paint images drawn from the natural world, in part, because I enjoy the challenge of representing on canvas the visual complexities of nature. In the tradition of American landscape painting, I view both the natural world and art based on the interpretation of the natural world as sources of emotional and spiritual renewal. Hopefully my paintings convey that to the viewer.
