This vessel was created from an ash tree growing in a yard in the Methow Valley. The inspiration for the form is from Native American pottery, with similar forms appearing in many Desert Southwest cultures.
The exterior includes an abstracted decoration where the surface has been carved to create a tactile texture. This carved area is dyed for contrast.
This completely unique expression of artistic woodturning could grace any mantle or tabletop. It could also hold a dried plant arrangement, or perhaps some other secret treasures...
Dyed, carved ash vessel, 7-1/2" diameter x 5-3/8" tall.
